debaser, i had the same problem a while ago. i have since reformatted my harddrive. but i believe the problem started when i downloaded and installed a new version of winamp. if you have the program, uninstall it and get either an older version or winamp basic. i am not certain if it was that or something else. it might have been windows update also, because i cancelled windows update. the problem you're having is with .wav format i think. i was able to play mp3, avi, mpeg, etc. but not .wav files. i also could not change the volume meter, it said it didnt recognize an audio card.
