This happens to me every once in a while. Sometimes when browsing, if you accidentally close your browser before reading all the new posts then you can't bring them back again.
FLL wrote:In case not everyone realizes... there is a way to use search to do this right now, not as convenient as the "View new posts since last visit" link but a whole lot better than clicking topics from the main forums page.

You go into search, enter the keyword to search for as *, and under the search options set "Search previous" to either 1 day or 7 days, depending on how long it's been.
This method doesn't seem to work anymore. :(

AFAIK it stopped working long time ago, so it has probably nothing to do with recent flmsearch integration.

Ghost did recently make a few changes and for the better. but there is some odd things happening that I have noticed. today I checked all my new posts and yet it still says I have 3 new posts not viewed. I can't find them? also I noticed for some that have the hidden option enabled it is showing them on even though they have not logged on in several months such as billanben?

Earlier this year, I ran a Tor server. Bad move not securing it well. My unix machine was hacked--by who, I don't know. Within minutes, the infection spread to my Windows machine. As I am not a security expert, I had to live knowing that someone could have easily hacked my machine.

Now on for the story:

I understand that there are child pornographers on Tor. I also understand that there are hackers. This kind of abuse may have very well caused me to lose everything I have.

A few weeks later, I was at school, and there were 50-100 grey SUVs of the same make and model following me. I was never directly interrogated. I walked around campus in shock. Wherever I sat down, an agent (most probably an FBI special agent) would sit near me in silence with a notebook, taking notes. I walked around campus and all eyes were on me. I was considering going to class, but I was more concerned with the immediate danger. Like I said, this was most probably the FBI. Wherever I sat, the FBI grey SUVs circled my location. I sat far away from everybody else, but of course, an FBI agent sat down right across from me taking notes. They followed me home, and followed me everywhere for several days.

I have never been told what I have been accused of. When I tried asking them questions, they simply ignored me.

They have changed my television feed from the service provider. I used to have to watch "Fake TV". Now TV is real, but the colors are messed up, and only late at night when I watch it. When someone else is with me, the colors go back to normal. I remember one day watching at TV laughing at how stupid it was, and all of the sudden, the program is interrupted to a "comedian" who says:

"Yeah, so we're trying to catch this one suspect, but he's too smart for us." (laughter)

Early on into the investigation, TV was markedly changed. At first, pointing out the cops on TV was obvious. I must have been bugged, because all I had to say was "that's a cop" and all the sudden the channel would change back to normal. Now they don't change my TV directly, they just use color shifting.

I am fairly sure that they have collaborated with Google and set up my Gmail page to attempt to exploit some kind of vulnerability.

The only *software* that I can directly confirm was a piece of shit that was stored in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\CurrentVersion\Run. The software was linked with "mswsock.dll.ocx", indicating that it was written in Visual Basic. Now that makes me strongly suspect that it was just something I got somewhere else--how could the FBI's secret software be written in VB?

There's a memory I had, though, that was indicative of what was used to deliver the software:

My DNS servers were different from that they should have been! My anti-virus program kept updating over and over again (I was using AVG free edition). I suspect that they change the DNS servers, possibly through the ISP, possibly through something else, and then use virus scanner updates to infect you! Pretty clever!

I've noticed some oddities with FLM (including the 3 "new" messages - I just clicked Mark All Forums Read to get rid of them). Also had a problem where when I tried to post it just took me to my profile screen no matter which browser I used. This was after ghost's changes but it seems to have cleared up.

I didn't see any wedding... but I never watch TV. I'm [blink]SHOCKED[/blink] you never told me me you had any Lyndsay-Lohan-snorting-coke porn. You're quite correct in hiding it - you'd have so many people mooching off you that MI6 would have to give you bodyguards.

It stopped working due to an upgrade Ghost did to a newer version of the software, in 2008 or 2009.

The database got corrupted back in 2005/2006 as we all know. When using the old builtin search, corrupted threads do not show up (for the same reason corrupted threads also don't show up in the forum listings). The "new posts" feature uses the old search.

The new search operates off a different database, so corrupted threads *do* show up. If someone uses the new search and posts to one of those corrupted threads, the posts will show up in the new post count but won't be shown in the list. Arthorious posted three such messages yesterday.

https://www.first-loves.com/forums/v ... .php?t=338
https://www.first-loves.com/forums/v ... c.php?t=55

Mystery solved! (Call me Huckle, a reference which almost noone will get.) I have moved these threads to the Graveyard. I should go through and move the rest of them when I get time.

As to the online stuff -- haven't seen it happen, so no idea.

These 3 posts that you can't find should be in the graveyard.
