Thanks for bringing this film back to our attention.
I for one missed this release.
I am pretty sure I saw this film as a child, and so wouldn’t mind checking it out for that reason.
Thanks emuler

This is another wishy-washy movie quite similar in treatment to The Railway Children. Very little happens, but small kids seem to like it.

Kind of like the Enid Blyton books for smaller children (not the Mystery series which is pretty good).
Rarely have I disagreed with emuler's comments about a movie but this is one time (or is it just because I'm English!

)
This is a truly wonderful slice of British children's movie-making that ranks as one of my all time favourites. Helped on it's way by a stunning film location, cute kids who I think act really well & a general feeling of portraying an era that provided a more balanced lifestyle for kids. I'm delighted to be able to release this upgrade & urge those who haven't seen this to do so! Once again, I'm slightly disappointed with the end result that simply reflects on the quality of the source material. Maybe I'm just expecting 2009 quality from something that's 35 years old!

@loverboy
at the time this was filmed high def was certainly available (70mm) but only big production companies could afford the cameras and film. but these are still great to watch. they give a feel of the time period. it is great that you have such high expectations, we all benefit from it.

there are programs that will greatly enhance the quality of movies such as sharpness and smoothness of play back. i am currently looking for a good one for future ripping. as far as play back your current releases up convert very well which does some what the same thing.
Thanks for the upgrade

Hey! Never said I didn't like it.

It is just that given the current trend of big budget children's films, some of us (not me) tend to expect a more exciting story line. This film is about a bunch of kids on their summer vacation. They don't save the world from mad scientists, find buried treasure - fighting off sinister baddies in the process, teleport into magical worlds, etc.
Thanks for the better quality version.

Always welcome.
I remember wondering why ghost and others preferred larger file sizes. Now that I have experienced high definition first hand, I'm forced to take back my words. HD rocks! Everything I have downloaded recently has been 720p and better.
