That's useful to know,PTG,i'll have to check out the 'criterion collection' to see what other classics have been restored.
Guest..i always appreciate feedback, while i sympathise with your US rejection

and i quite enjoyed the little bit of your life story, you wen't and spoiled it by making me hungry at the end

Not surprising they wouldn't let you through. Especially coming across that border point. You should have tried one of the Mexico borders. Vancouver is very professional(been there and Victoria many times) where as Mexico I don't think they know the meaning of professional.
As far as authentic India I doubt it. Some of the scenery might be of interest and authentic, but considering this was directed by Jean Renoir(a French American) how authentically India culture wise could it be? You will have to tell us.

Starfish, please do check them out,
Criterion Collection is a great company that I am very thankful for. They have saved and restored a lot of films over the years that would not have been otherwise. Also because of their growing popularity other companies have started doing the same.

I was mocking your situation with our overly paranoid border. So don't take it seriously, merely having fun with you.
I have no nostalgia towards India so it did not hamper my enjoyment. Good film.
