Stay on to kad, it has been long due to make that move. Staying on to servers, that you don't really know who control, leaves you vulnerable. If any of you have followed the Mediadefender email leak, you can get some clues about how that company was operating and running more than 100 servers, i like to call them honeypots. And in one of the emails there was a list of emule-servers run by MD. At the bootom of that list, also our beloved Donkeys were listed. I don't know why they showed up on that list wit servers. The rest of the servers had a clear link to MD, apart from the 5 Donkeys. Can it be that the Donkeys have been run by MD since that court-order? Anyway, there is still a small heap of trusted servers in those "nofakes"-server.met-files, that you can get from peerates.net or gruk.org.

because some routers/modems don't handle kad that well, and it takes some time before you get full output of search-results using kad. But it is good.

I've not looked at the whole thing, only seen a bit that was posted, but the Donkeyserver which was listed in the MD email I saw was a fake, not one of the normal Donkeys. Before I checked the eMule option to filter servers there were a bunch of obviously fake Donkeys there, when I turned on filtering they went away.
One issue with Kad is that being firewalled is a bigger problem than a server connection being firewalled. Maybe the current server problems will spur developers to fix some of that.
In the short term, sources will be scarcer as people haven't yet moved to Kad or just give up on eMule figuring it no longer works.

Bit like WinMX I guess.
It actually only stopped working for a couple of days, but even now many poor saps still think its closed
The PIE patch for WinMX was the biggest two fingers up to the movie/music industry ever
WinMX is now better than it was before it shut for those few hours, it just took a long time to get there, a bit like eMule will.

Hmmm now it really happend that the music industry closed many ed2k servers... I am not very surprised, just was a question of time.
I always said: only use KAD!
Servers log your IP for the files you are downloading....

at the bottom of the same mail was the real ones FLL... both the obvious fake donkeys with wrong ports and ips and the REAL Donkeys with correct ips and ports.. That's why i started to wonder what the heck was going on

I've seen an email about fake MP3s which has a bunch of real servers listed. Looks to me like MD was sharing fakes on real servers not under their control, so as to poison search results for everyone not just those connected to the fake servers.
In any event, with servers in flux it's tough to know who you can trust, with new servers popping up. Better to wait and see who proves to be what.

So how can you search KAD for something which begins less than 3 letters (like most French films) ? Tried putting in quotes but that doesn't work ?
