eMule Plus has a terrific user interface. It shows you more stuff, and let's you do more with it.
Downloading and uploading speed is the same, as determined by the ed2k protocol which all ed2k clients must adhere to. However, eMule Plus is better for slower connections because it lets you set your connection speed in increments of 0.1 KB/s, so you can fine tune it to your exact requirements.

For you, it is not advisable right now, as it does not support UNICODE, and you must be doing a lot of searches in different languages. Wait for the next release v1.2d which is coming VERY soon. It has UNICODE. :clap I know - I am testing it right now. :)

Also, there is no KAD in eMule Plus. This will probably be addressed in the release after the next one. However, I have not seen much difference in speed and sources because of that. :)

Thanks Ghost, I did the same configuration now. Well, then this eMule PRO Ultra2 is really something dubious?

Look, this is an app that you will have to allow to use the internet A LOT. You need to be able to trust it, that it doesn't have any spyware or trojans or adware. All the good clients are open source, so you can see what they are doing and how they are doing it. Even if you yourself don't know how, a lot of people who can read the source code do so on a regular basis and comment about it in the forums.

When you have a protocol that is as well defined as the ed2k protocol, the only way you can claim that a particular client is significantly faster is if that client does something that is not allowed in the protocol, or else why wouldn't every client be doing it? Sometimes these are made by people who do not fully understand the protocol - eg. if you can upload less, you can get a higher download: upload ratio (which is good), but you do it at the expense of credits that you earn by uploading (which is bad, because that means that other clients will not give you your turn quicker, so you'll wait longer).

Also, as a MOD developer you have to be alert to the possibility that the feature you are adding can be misused by misguided or unscrupulous people. What looks good on paper, or at first glance, might not be so great after all. Eg. the MorphXT and Applejuice MODs allow you to create several friend slots. In the hands of an experienced and responsible user this is great, but in other hands it can be unfair as regular users never get their turn. Same for the ability to drop a connection at will - great if you want to discourage someone who isn't uploading to you, only downloading; not so great if you use it to drop some poor sod who's been patiently sitting in your queue for the past 37 hours.

So when you pick a client, do so with care. See the list of features, see what you absolutely need, and what you can live without. Does it provide sources for the general public to examine? Does it have a support and development forum? Does it support the language you want?

Some MODs, like the koizo MOD, are region specific. Portugal has a different policy for internet usage - traffic within the country is free, traffic outside (international traffic) costs a bundle. The koizo MOD is specially designed to cater to these requirements. Absolutely great for users in Portugal - nothing special if you live anywhere else.
