Thanks for the heads-up! I snooped around, and I am guessing you mean the German blu-rays. I checked quickly to see if there are any new 1080p rips online yet. Not that I found from the few places I looked, but there are older ones, including 1080p. (If anyone finds updated ones, please post links for what you find.)
Yes, I was referring to the recent German BluRay releases (1080p). This reminds me of a trope that drove me insane in the show "Lost" x castaway wanders off into the woods, sees something unexplainable and supernatural, but never mentions it to their fellow castaways in order to manufacture mystery and intrigue. And considering it was Lost, there was no guarantee that the mystery would ever be resolved.pillowbaker wrote: Thu May 25, 2023 1:14 am One of the most annoying things is when a character randomly decides to disappear without telling their fellow tribe mates, usually to explore the dangerous outside world for supplies or to get away with something without everyone noticing. It happen nearly every episode, even the characters themselves say, "not again!" when they find out. I began to think it was an excuse primarily used by the show writers when one of the cast members, primarily kids and teens, were unavailable. But it keeps you yelling at the screen and hitting the play button! I am such a sucker.
I love writing, mostly as a hobby/creative release. I've been working on a story lately that would fall under fantasy/post-apocalyptic (it takes place in our world, but 900 years in the future and 400 years after civilization collapsed.) it sounds somewhat similar to this show, actually. Although, no sex or anything too crazy like that. I understand why parents want to carefully choose what their kids are exposed to, but I do think there is something to be said for treating kids, at least intellectually speaking, like adults, insofar as what they are able to process in fiction. One cool thing about the show is the willingness the show creators are to include issues you wouldn't normally see in a TV show directed towards a juvenile audience. And this includes violence, kidnapping, selling slaves, sex, pregnancy, and even rape and human sex trafficking (very very light on that last one).

It really feels like throughout the years we have continuously dumbed things down and made things more and more "safe"
...
a possibly much bigger problem with coddling and a society more and more focused on isolation and everything on-demand.

I think you hit it spot on. I forgot how its saying is laid out, but constraints may amplify this thing known as artistic formula. Which is why I think possibly it is a good proposal for us all to start writing our posts in lipograms. Whaddya say, try it out?marvingray wrote: Sat May 27, 2023 10:11 am I think some of the best fiction writing can come when there are limitations the writers have to work around and you can kind of tell when the writers care to go above and beyond...
OH! Now I know! What a curious notion. It is awfully hard to avoid using our most common writing units, most particularly that which follows "D" and is prior to "F". I think this plan for writing composition is just too crazy and difficult! I will allow you to adopt that way of writing if YOU want. I just can not do it for long!I think you hit it spot on.
