So this is the series I've been watching lately. Yeah, I've actually been watching something! See, I can do it! Since this thread was posted, there have been a few people asking how the show is, and if it is worth checking out. So I gathered some hastily written notes, in case someone is still curious and comes across this thread. I am nearly done with the first season.
Considering there are 50+eps per season, I am surprised by how much content is packed in to each one. Seriously, a lot happens in each episode, and there's always a few things going on. Some of the main characters will be slightly too old for some of the members here, and they're usually mostly fully clothed, even in the face of the edgier topics they get into. There are a few younger characters, though, that are in every episode.
Little to no spoilers:
The show is initially about a group of kids who band together after an adult-wiping cataclysmic event, and they try to make a basic livable situation for themselves that never comes without plenty of issues. Early on, they discover a good place to make a little home.
The show is both highly entertaining (to me) and mildly infuriating at the least. On the up side, the show is continuously keeping the drama and character events going on, and there no dull moments. The characters are always doing something incredulous. By ep 7, I was amazed by how much had happened and how many characters had been introduced.
As for the infuriating parts, these are likely moments that the show creators want to illicit this reaction from the watcher. A few characters consistently seem to take turns being as counterproductive or useless as possible! You will recognize plenty of plot devices, but there is the occasional action so crazy you would not have guessed it would happen! First off, course not all of the characters can get along. How would it be interesting if they all did? They often bicker and fight among themselves, in the middle of this world of other tribal gangs who would eat them alive.
One of the most annoying things is when a character randomly decides to disappear without telling their fellow tribe mates, usually to explore the dangerous outside world for supplies or to get away with something without everyone noticing. It happen nearly every episode, even the characters themselves say, "not again!" when they find out. I began to think it was an excuse primarily used by the show writers when one of the cast members, primarily kids and teens, were unavailable. But it keeps you yelling at the screen and hitting the play button! I am such a sucker.
One cool thing about the show is the willingness the show creators are to include issues you wouldn't normally see in a TV show directed towards a juvenile audience. And this includes violence, kidnapping, selling slaves, sex, pregnancy, and even rape and human sex trafficking (very very light on that last one).
All in all, it's a pretty fun show and I plan on sticking around for at least the first two seasons. It scratches that "no adults around" itch, where the kids are free to run rampant and mess things up as they please.
You'll notice midway through that they seemed to run out of actual children to play extras and minor speaking parts. Some random one-off characters and extras are so obviously adults that they didn't even bother to hide it.
The New Zealand accents are such a delight for the ears! Seems most actors are from New Zealand, but I wouldn't be surprised if some were Australian.

They are 1080p at a decent size, although I had to settle with x265 to get this. My first download came from Night's link for the rarbg 720p files. Otherwise, the 1080p files on rarbg are 82gb to 95gb per season!! I have a good amount of hard drive space, but that is too much. The show is otherwise very easy to stream at the links Night listed.
I do think there is a fine line to walk when making entertainment for kids. Like, the Matilda musical, it's technically about a girl that is neglected and abused by her parents, but the movie shows it in a silly, comical way for the most part and holds back its few darker scenes for particularly dramatic moments. I think some of the best fiction writing can come when there are limitations the writers have to work around and you can kind of tell when the writers care to go above and beyond compared to something that just lazily churns out content like an assembly line.
