It's 1978. The hottest summer of the century. In the small village of Acque Traverse everything seems still and asleep: the school is closed, the adults remain stuck at home, overwhelmed by the heat. Only a handful of kids run around freely between the town and the surrounding countryside, playing and frolicking. And during one of these, little Michele, nine years old, will come across an incredible secret: the "grown-ups" of the village are keeping a child - roughly the same age as him - segregated in a well, inside an abandoned house. What will they want to do to him? Why is there a pall of silence and silence hanging over this mystery? Why do his parents also seem involved in this strange story?
