This serial is based on the story of Valentina Oseyeva (Валентина Осеева) "Dinka", the same literal base as film [REL] Naydi menya, Lyonya! (1971): https://www.first-loves.com/forums/v ... php?t=4180

The story takes place in 1910 on the river Volha in the cottage near city Samara (in soviet period Kuybyshev). It is tale about friendship of the 10 yo Dinka (Nadezhda), daughter of wealthy professional revolutioner, who lives with her mother and family in the cottage above Volga river, and Lyonya (Leonid), beggar living on Volga boats.

In 1910, there were Zhiguli rapids on the Volga river (cf painting Repin: Burlaki na Volge - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ilia_ ... 873%29.jpg ). While film Naydi menya, Lyonya! shows river with rapids, this film shows Kuybishev reservoir created now above corresponding dam. The are rocks connected with legend about Stenka Razin with cave, where lives Lyonya after his escape from the boat and its owner.

While film Naydi menya, Lyonya! ends, when Lyonya escapes away from tsar police, and Dinka only appeal to him "Find me later, Lyonja" (Naydi menya, Lyonya!), the presented serial ends by happyend, when Dinka's family escapes to Kiev and adopts Lyonya as his son.

Very nice series, the kids are 90% of it. Sweet girl, heck even the boy was cute, dirty face and all. Nice little snapshot of Russian life of that era. Thanks.

Reshared. If you are starting from scratch it might make sense to get jkecal's version, but I assume you already have part of these downloaded...

quality-wise? I didn't download his version
because they're poorly sourced and rather
large.

Having seen jkecal's posts I assume it's much better, but I didn't get his version, either -- at the time my download was vey slow in general and I was lagging on another of his releases and decided I was unlikely to be able to get this one in any reasonable length of time, unfortunately

After seeing the quality of the smaller version,
I've decided to have a go at jkecal's version.
Currently part 1 is downloading slowly but has
3 complete sources, and part 3 is often incomplete.
If anyone can help out here (Phuzzy4242?),
especially with part 3, it would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks!
