Yikes!!

No... This particular film doesn't belong here...

Though similar in that it is about a brother and sister, the movie is more a 'possession' movie than a 'haunting' film [though some of the scenes could classified as 'haunting' :P ]. Plus the main protagonist is their mother, not their governess... I'm sure there are nods to 'Turn of the Screw', but there's also hints of 'The Sixth Sense' [as one fan posted on the 'Message Board' at imdb].

In fact, the imdb synopsis sums it up pretty well:
IMDB wrote:Content with two children in an upper class French marriage, a woman finds herself faced with visions of rape, violence and the supernatural. Her husband, a successful businessman also starts experiencing hallucinations in which he often ends up physically hurt. Their babysitter hangs herself and the children begin acting strangely, their sadistic behavior arousing suspicion. It becomes apparent that the children's bodies have been possessed/inhabited by two dirty, old people.
The other films here are direct adaptations of the Henry James novel, but this film is just a movie about two creepy children... (Unless, of course, the director or second screen writer did an interview where they specifically stated that they intended the film to be a variation of 'Turn of the Screw'.. )

kev.

BTW this was a great idea to combine for fans of this story :D

This (Presence of Mind) and "Otra vuelta de tuerca" (above) are two of my favorite adaptations.

Also Un jeu d'enfants (https://www.first-loves.com/forums/v ... %27enfants)
"Presence of Mind" is indeed nice, I bought the DVD long time before I became aware of FLM. Found it either at CIC or CVMC.

Gotta check out "Otra vuelta de tuerca" :think

Otra vuelta de tuerca is a great twist on the story using a failed wannabe priest as the governess. As this story is about sexual repression, the religious aspect of his background adds to the tension inside him....as does his repressed homosexuality. Both kids in this are seducers and this film much more brings out that Quint and Jezebel and the kids were "involved" behind closed doors. I believe this is also the version that I first realized that Miles did not actually "harm" anyone at his school. It was his carnal knowledge that he had been sharing that threatened the establishment of the school.

Un jeu d'enfants
From CVMC -
In this Turn of The Screw update, strange happenings start occurring shortly after a family moves into a new home.

Content with two beautiful children (Julian (Alexandre Bongibault) & Aude (Camille Vatel)) in an upper class French marriage, a woman finds herself faced with visions of rape, violence and the supernatural. Her husband, a successful businessman also starts experiencing hallucinations in which he often ends up physically hurt.

Even the babysitter isn't spared. As the children begin acting strangely, their sadistic behavior arouses suspicion and it becomes apparent that the children's bodies have been possessed.
The "Worms" are Quint and Jezebel, the kids are Miles and Flora, the babysitter is the governess. And the goal of Quint and Jezebel was to posses the kids as is in this movie. This is just a "outside the box" version that is not a direct representation. :D
