For running more RAM, have to change to a 64-bit-system...thinking it over...

It’s strange though. The last time we had a batch of mkv videos posted here (maybe before Christmas), I didn’t have any trouble.

It is VLC im trying to us (its pretty much all I ever use).
MPC won’t open any mkv files for me.

Is their an mkv codec I should have?
Or maybe the fact that VLC can play the first few moments means I must have the codec already.

Maybe gspot will tell me, lets see.

you have a great system idler. if you have xp you are doing better than most. if you have vista than 64 bit does give a lot more room for the future. either way you are good for a while. but as far as computers go it will always be more, give me more. as least for me. lol

It doesn't depend on the file endings like MKV or something. Get the right codec!

The K-Lite codec pack should resolve your problems.

I got the impression that this is a rip of a HD-broadcast... can that be a reason for his skippish playing of the file?.

I already have a divx codec pack, and some xvid pack.
Won’t a k-lite pack just conflict with what I have already?

Also, as I mentioned earlier, the file plays to start with, so maybe that means I have the right codec’s??

I guess im going to have to start spending money now 
Ill get some more ram, but ill be darned if im replacing an already fine graphics card that has no trouble with anything else I throw at it, not just a measly 400meg video file.
