For me, the trouble with David Hamilton is the blurriness of his photographs - what has been called "his gauzy lens". Of course, that's how some people like it. Everybody's taste is different.

David Hamilton is not perfect - but he is legal. Which for some people may be a relief and a saviour.

Jock Sturges and Sally Mann are also legal, and NOT blurry.
But like I said, maybe according to some people's tastes, blurry is beautiful.
"To each his own."
For me, crisp is beautiful and "gauzy" is ugly.

I always want to tell him to clean his lenses, use a tripod or something, and learn how to focus. My grandmother took clearer pictures with her "Brownie" camera (though not of the Hamilton "topic" - that I know of).

Beautiful

The problem with the above website is that if you click on "Daughters", nothing happens.
If you click on "Single Photographs", nothing happens.
