I'm very much against opening us up to non-pro videos. First, they don't meet the guidelines that have served us well for a long time. Second, the "noise" factor will go sky high. We'll be flooded with home movies of low- and no-talent kids. "But they're cute!" Maybe so, but every one of those videos has to be checked to ensure they're not CP, few will be worth downloading, and they all look pretty much the same.

I've had to nix this type of vid a bunch of times. They were almost always one or two kids with delusions of competence covering a song by a no-talent teen "artist" filmed on a cell phone with crappy audio by a doting parent who considered their kid the next Justin Bieber/Selena Gomez - except they weren't. Even worse would be the inevitable posting of potty and bathtub vids and we're back to the days when some people bitched that a film was off-topic if it didn't have child nudity in it.

Maybe that's the sort of thing the membership wants, I don't know, but I think it'd be a mistake to go that route. samito asked a legitimate question about this vid so I left it alone, but I wouldn't want to see more of this stuff here. Anyone remember Torsten Gems? People can look on YouTube for this stuff all they want but it doesn't really have a place on FLM.

IF people are going to start uploading YouTube files, I would suggest a separate category for them to keep them separate from other files - though that may get a little complicated as there are already some in the short videos and music videos section, but there could be a lot of them starting to be uploaded. Actually, I happen to visite OTHER sites than this one (yes I do !) and I like it when a site does not slip to some other content. Youtube is here for that.
