Rare yes, but I have encountered it often enough to be aggravated but not too surprised! Maybe your DVD is uncut, and the subtitles were for a slightly edited version perhaps? It would then be easy to sync the beginning and the end (as I did), but stuff in the middle would be off.

It usually takes awhile before I watch my downloads, so I can have patience. Thank you for volunteering to fix it!

Maybe it is framerate issue with subs?

No, conversion of subs to different framerates is easy. There are options on any piece of subtitle software for that. Going from one version of a movie to another, sometimes the intro sequence is longer or shorter so you also have to add or subtract a fixed amount from all the titles. Again there's an option especially for that.

I've done shifting and framerate conversion many times. When it works, all the subs come back into alignment and it's very nice. Other times they're out of sync by variable amounts - some text appears when it should, some too early, some too late, but never by the same amount. It's all over the damn place. There is no pattern. The only way to fix the subs is to go through and manually adjust timecodes.

Hey deadman, would you like any help resyncing the subs for this one?

If it is a matter of having to resync every 5th line, it might be some work indeed. I actually kinda like this tedious sort of stuff and I am in-between projects. I can't say that you would get done any sooner, as I am somewhat slow at this, but I could take half the workload for you.

If your inspection shows that there isn't any easy framerate fix, or a quick adjustment for a couple slightly longer scenes, and it has to be done manually, just let me know. I can do the first half and you do the second, or something. ;)

Thanks for the offer. I'll take a look this weekend and see how much of it needs re-syncing, then let you know.

Is anyone converting the ISO into an mkv? Is it one Ghost is going to have a go at? Or should I?
FYI - ISOOpener program converts the files back to a typical DVDs "VIDEO_TS" folder. Then you just need to go through the steps of any typical DVD to mkv program can convert it to mkv.

I never watch ISOs, I always use MakeMKV to convert an ISO (or VIDEO_TS) to MKV.

Will download smaller rip with similar length from BK to see what that is with subs
They also haven't subs synced for that one

Update: Tried and they are out of sync, seems to be two different cuts

Another update: From those subs presented in this topic the last line is gone (I compared it with those at BK)

Those at BK end with

450
01:08:29,472 --> 01:08:32,472
Don't take anything serious.

Another update: Obtained both releases and trying to figure out in which point it goes out of sync
Despite different Framerate in the beginning it seems to be in sync with both releases
More or less - half a second to one or other side in each line

Update: It goes out of sync from line 383 and then again from 392

So here is the result.

What they cut from shorter version was two fragments in brothel (in the end of the movie)

However lines are still shaking back and forward about 0,5 sec
So you can take it like a draft or if it doesn't bother you you can watch the movie
I used avi with the length of 1:16:24 and framerate was 29,97

Movie was strange... just in the moment when Leon wished to do with girl the girl changed from beauty to beast :P
