More rant:
Spoiler:

"Remuxes aren't downloaded as much"? Wow, it seems that I am finding way too many of those when all I want is something small. What annoys me is when they remux only the video but omit various BluRay audio and subtitle options such as commentaries or dubs. Jeez dear disc ripper, you have a 35Gb video and you can not afford another Gb to make the audio complete??

Of course my real annoyance is that most of the remuxes have the lossless DTS audio converted to FLAC, and my damn BluRay player will play back the one in an MKV but not the other. FLAC is for music!

Night457 wrote: Mon Jun 03, 2024 10:30 pm I actually made two separate video encodes from the 1080p BDRemux. This one is a little larger than the one I first posted, and it uses the Norwegian DTS audio from the 720p 10.86Gb BDRrip. So if you want a higher bitrate on the video and/or DTS audio rather than AAC, then this is an alternate option. MEGA links only. [The delay in posting this is because I actually WATCHED both of my encodes.]

Specs: [Code] MEGA RARs: [Code]
You've saved me sharing my version!
I made myself a 1080p re-encode at 5000kbit to about a 4.5gb file. But because the Norweigan audio was only stereo I re-encoded it to AAC at 128kb and dropped the Russian overdub track. On the 34gb the DTS was also 1509kb - seemed a bit wasteful - it's a third of a typical video bitrate. I've seen DTS audio encodes of 1000-1300 for 5.1 audio - so using more kb for stereo seemed crazy of the original encoder (not you). Even when it's 5.1 DTS at that size I am sometimes tempted to remake it as a 384kb AC3 5.1 track. I can't tell the difference.
Tip - if you wanted to do the same you could drop your above video into Handbrake - set the video to some stupid small size like 40x32 and lowest quality, set the audio to re-encode to whatever you want. When I do that on my PC it can re-encode a films audio in under 10mins. Then run a mkvmerge and take the video from the above, the audio from your new encode and the subtitles from the original. Handbrake can handle AC3, E-AC3, DTS, DD, FLAC, pretty much any audio - and do good down conversions from 5.1 to stereo or one 5.1 to another 5.1
On the movie itself - it hardly seemed appropriate to this site - the boy appears for a few minutes only. The young lady is pretty and frequently totally naked - but think she's about 20. I didn't think the film was that good - seemed quite post apocalyptic though. I actually fell asleep an hour in!

Hey, I am glad you managed to finish downloading the monster torrent! I am not re-encoding yet again because I have no need for the smallest sized file like YTS does. Besides, my ears remain better than my eyes so audio is more important to me. Supposedly the DTS audio was lossy according to the specs, so it is not the BluRay's full lossless DTS-HD MA. I would like to see what the size was for THAT audio track ... just because. Besides, my smaller file DOES have AAC audio. The specs do not say the bitrate for the audio, but when you are comparing AAC encodes the size difference is insignificant. I give higher bitrate to AAC because it really does not make it much larger.

I have reencoded just audio and not video before although I no longer use Handbrake much; instead I use other software where I can select Exact Copy for either audio or video as needed.

I kept wondering when the next scene with the boy would be. There is not much but I think you slept through some of them. This is a rare occasion where I stayed awake!

A single pixeldrain download has been added to the linked post.

It took you almost 3 months to discover a problem with downloading the movie? :?:

I am going to take a wild guess... if the downloads did not get corrupted somehow, perhaps it failed because you used the built-in and flawed Windows archive extractor instead of standalone software like WinRAR or 7zip.

i would highly recommend 7zip

it's completely free and extremely easy to use (This is the only extractor I use)

Sorry but i dont see any pixeldrain download link in this thread.

I used both win rar and 7zip, maybe the problem is that i am on a mobile device.
