For a moment, I read the title as Crazy Horse.
Thanks, lb. Interesting technical discussion too (which I haven't read carefully enough - just woke up

), although I generally feel that a variable bitrate will yield better results overall, as scenes with low detail and movement can be compressed more effectively, while leaving more headroom for the tougher scenes.
About the previous non-technical discussion, the less said the better. Thank god we've evolved for the better. I recognize one 'guest' post as mine - the one recommending a tagging/rating scheme for content. `

I guess lb meant "constant quality" mode. Constant bitrate would mean variable quality (low motion scenes = high quality, high motion/noisy scenes = low quality), so it doesn't make sense to me.
PS. I love flamewars

I don't want to stop a discussion about such a rating system if that's what people really want to do, but IMO focusing on the very aspects of FLM we've spent the last year DE-emphasizing would be very UNgood. If such a discussion is wanted, let's take it out of a movie thread and into Site Help & Development.

Rating is rather useless IMO, because different people like different things. Nudity does not necessarily imply that the movie is hot, and "family viewing" is a vague term anyway. There are many good family movies with nudity (i.e. Madita).

Hey, I just pointed out which post was mine.

Both FLM and IMDB have evolved, as have our internet bandwidths. When downloading a single movie took weeks, proper tagging was really important so that we only downloaded things we actually wanted.
I agree with the comment about 'family movies'. My example would be Gritta. Madita would be just a little over the line for unrestricted family viewing, IMHO.
