Question - why is it nearly always French films which are spoofed in this way ?

Now here's my DVD rip from the german DVD. It's an AVI with both languages, french and german.
German title is: Die Nervensägen.

I would provide them to you if the DVD had english subs, but it ain't. As long as this movie is not officially released in US or UK, there won't be english subs.
