I figured that is what you saw. Each post's header stays [REQ] even after it has been moved to [REL]. It has been this way for a long time now. Look in various threads and you will see it. This whole thread was/is in [REL] when you posted your comment.

The reply topic is whatever the first post's topic is at the time the reply is made. If I post a reply before moving a thread (so I don't have to scroll back to the last post again on multi-page threads) my reply will still have [REQ] instead of [REL]. I didn't think it was a problem but I guess I can move a thread before replying if that makes a difference to anyone.

i know how it happened,it's quite a common pitfall,i arrived there via the search.
the 'shaving water' thing is wearing a bit thin now,it stopped being funny when i had to explain it.
