or Sygate Personal Firewall...

then try running emule with the original ports that were set. they will both ask you if you want to allow emule when you press connect.

you can always test your firewalls effectiveness here...

My firewall is disabled at present. Sygate may be good, the reviews on ZoneAlarm weren't very positive at Download.com.

I've been playing with the port settings. 3000/4242 and 3000/26131 work good sometimes. 26121/26131(the original settings) rarely seems to work, and 4665/4575 does not work.

The most important test of whether a setting "works" is whether you have a high ID and Kad is not firewalled. Even if you have a low ID and are firewalled you will be able to download, but it will take longer (potentially a lot longer).

If you get a High ID then don't bother changing the port. Changing the port won't make you any more connectable, and will simply make it impossible for those whose queue you are already in to connect to you until you next connect to them. If you have gotten a High ID then later you have a Low ID, don't change the port, it's just a glitch that will likely go away quickly. Try another server, maybe.

What does the "Test Ports" button say? And do you have a router?
