Wow thanks for the upgrade, DreamScape. The tubi version wasn't even that bad, and now we have choices!

Unfortunately this isn't an upgrade, but thanks, Dreamscape.

English subtitles manually resynced to DreamScape's VHSrip, with some text corrections:
Magic In The Mirror.en-sdh.srt
The VHSrip looks a little sharper than the Tubi TVrip/SatRip, but the VHSrip has break at the end and is missing about 15 seconds of dialog & action. (See Tubi version subtitles, lines 1327-1335 for missing portion.)
Tubi on left, VHSrip on right

Oh wow, good catch, citronleaf! While comparing video files, I don't know if I would have ever noticed that. I wonder how many upgrades I have downloaded that have issues like that.

Noticed which part, the PQ or the cut? I had to manually edit the entire subtitle file line by line, so eventually I made it to the missing footage that really messed up the sync: the next-to-last scene. Yet even with just adjusting the start time the timing kept changing.

I was referring to the cut. I noticed right away the volume level of DreamScape's rip is noticeably quieter.
It is odd that the timing kept changing between the two rips, even after adjusting the start time. I see that both are 29.97 fps. This has happened to a number of other movies I've retimed myself. Besides variations in editing and cuts, I don't know what causes this.
Thanks for spending the time fixing the timing on the subs for this film. I know it can be some tedious work.

You noticed something I did not, then! Maybe Tubi boosted the audio for streaming.

I keep encountering it too and do not know the cause either. It seems to happen when syncing between a TVrip and a home media (VHS, DVD, Blu) rip. Maybe it is because of the actual framerate of TV broadcasting. There have been a number of times for non-English films where I delete the download in frustration when I can not do a simple subtitle sync by lining up the beginning and the end. At least with English, I am confident that I am matching up each line of the subtitle correctly with the audio waveform.

Both versions look horrible to my eyes. And take a look at the wrong framerate. The movements are totally jerky.

29.97 fps is the correct framerate for NTSC VHS and NTSC analog TV. I won't argue that it looks good!
(But I watched videotape for years without a problem.

I managed to watch this movie the other day
The girl was cute but other than that, this movie was honestly quite boring
Those duck creatures or whatever annoyed the heck out of me (And so did those mirror-minded people)
