Why am I so fascinated by Casimir in "L'Île aux enfants"?

Hmmm. Well, I think you'll have to elucidate on that one. I see on the "L'Île aux enfants" imdb page that Casimir "has become a cult figure in France", so you're not the only one.
The only Casimir I know is from the Sufjan Sevens song.

I discovered Casimir from Dave's post and that is what I am referencing!
DaveTheBoss wrote: Thu May 16, 2024 3:48 pmAnd the music of the credits is that of an old French children's television show with puppets.

I think Casimir is more my speed rather than this cop drama.
It's like the Banana Splits song used in "Kick Ass" -- I prefer the Banana Splits!

Well, I didn't expect that. Especially because Casimir is a male and major dinosaur (it seems)

.
Maybe you want to watch an episode ?

F* yes!!! Thank you!
Casimir is a male name of course, and clearly a dinosaur ... but I did not say I was physically attracted to him! Just that I found the character looked interesting and appealing ... and maybe the show would be easier to watch than a grim cop drama. I found many clips but I wanted a full episode to watch.
EDIT: I have gone on to download some clips after watching the episode, and I especially like Léonard le renard!

Don't you need subtitles to understand ?

Technically I suppose YES, because I only understand the occasional word of French -- but that has never stopped me before. I have watched and to a certain extent understood all sorts of entertainment without the benefit of actually understanding the language. This is easier with children's programming, which has simpler stories and broader acting. If I tried this with a talky adult French melodrama I would be lost. I have watched several episodes of the German children's series "Rappelkiste" without knowing German, and I enjoyed them.
I found a Dailymotion long video of Casimir which has automated French subtitles that I machine-translated to English:
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x8vuxhy
I don't know how accurate the automated French subtitles are, and I have not dared to actually LOOK at the translation, but I am going to try viewing that video with the English to see if it adds to my understanding or just confuses me.
Of course the complete series streaming with Hearing-Impaired French subtitles would be awesome, because that could be ripped.
I HAVE actually downloaded the available videos for "Polisse" and will likely watch it, but right now I am more interested in Casimir and friends.

You see what happens when you randomly volunteer some cultural information, DaveTheBoss? Looks you have made a potential fan.
Hey Night, if there are any particular episodes that stand out to you, lemme know, I'd like to check out a few.

Good point, pillowbaker. I *DO* tend to focus on things that might not be most important.
Do you want to know my favorite Sesame Street episodes too? Anything with Richard Pryor certainly appeals to me. I need to watch "S1.E44 ∙ Cookie Monster moves in with Oscar" because those are my favorite Sesame Street Muppet characters. Anything after Mr. Hooper died I just don't want to see, that episode was just brutal. (Although I did not see it until years later because I was too old to be watching Sesame Street when it first aired.) And keep Elmo away from me!
Seriously, it is likely that they are all pretty much the same with only individual segments standing out. The slew of clips on YouTube of Casimir and friends is probably the most sensible way of approaching this show. I wanted to see an actual episode JUST BECAUSE.
