Gooble Gobble! We accept you, one of us! One of us!
Oh wait, I am thinking of a different Freaks, from over 90 years ago...
I think you're talking about the 1932 Freaks movie. I watched it and was impressed by the diversity of the actors, actress and the plot.
But Lexy Kolker stars in this movie I'm talking about.

So, I just rewatched the trailer and there's a part in the trailer i wanna clarify with
"Steele's gang put a Green Light on you two"
(I couldn't quite fully hear the first word but I'm pretty sure he said Steele... About 45 seconds into the trailer)
Green Light is like another word for Hit List right?
I have never heard of putting a Green Light on someone

{Yes, Freaks (1932) where "The Living Torso" lights a cigarette for himself without having either arms or legs. Amazing!}

Your interpretation of what they meant makes perfect sense to me, although I have never heard that particular expression.
Maybe they are making up their own slang.

To be "green lit" is a gang/mob way of saying there's a hit out on you. Like open season.
I'm surprised you never heard that expression. Maybe not an Australian thing.

The "green light" I know is an approval to do something, like an intersection green light means "Go". I guess killing someone is standard procedure in gangster mentality and a red light is only a temporary pause in the action!
