I haven't tried anything for about 4-6 months and the AI technology moves pretty fast!

SubtitleEdit has Implemented Whisper since the last versions. It works pretty well.

You can open large 1080p videos in Subtitle edit and just use Whisper?
I tried opening this 4gb file in Subtitle edit. It gets stuck in an endless loop of trying download mpv video player. Crashing. I open again and it wants to download it again!

Yes, you can. Video -> Open video file.

Strange. I hadn't any problems at all. You could try to change the video player to DirectShow or VLC.

After your video is opened in SE: Video -> Audio to text (Whisper)...
