Some subtitle history ---
Harry789 translated the German and posted English subtitles here: https://www.first-loves.com/forums/view ... 652#p90652
It looks like the same subtitles were posted here: https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/subtit ... -boules-en
A different "freely subjective translation" was later posted here: https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/subtit ... -boules-en

THAT subtitle explained the German title
"Superbiester! 'Nen Freund zum Geburtstag"
as
"Super Beastly [hunky] boyfriend for her birthday"

So apparently the Superbiester is the boyfriend of one of the females.

P.S.: the emule and torrent files with the French title still had German audio. So the only French audio I found was in the OK.ru files I am still downloading.

Unfortunately, it's a very plastic facey AI upscale. I was hoping maybe somebody ripped the bluray and posted that. If nobody has any of the discs left in stock then perhaps someone posted it on a private torrent or Usenet site. Otherwise I'll have to check ebay periodically and hope one goes on sale at some point.

I am as interested in finding original French audio as a higher resolution source.

Not sure if you've already tried this one from btdig. It seems to have two encodes of the same movie contained within.

https://www.btdig.com/b30552cdeec862004 ... oules-1982

I can't load up bittorrent right now to check if it even has seeders.

Me too. Unfortunately OK.ru tends to lock up streaming for me so I can't really evaluate the quality in my browser, I have to download it to really see (and it is still going). I was really looking for the French audio (even in bad quality) but I gravitated toward the files that said they were HD.

Those seem the most likely places to look.

Limited edition of 500 = probably €120+ used on "sale". Good luck!

I downloaded and deleted that Btdig torrent. They were old SD German dubs.

It was one of the producers who had the idea of the French final title, which was not very well suited to the film (In fact, it's just an innocuous line from Lolo to her sister Vanessa). The director wanted to call it "Mother's Day"... Released between "La Boum" and "La Boum 2", this film has been completely forgotten in France, it will never be released on DVD :? !

Valérie Dumas would have been perfect to reprise the role of Ann-Sofie Kylin in a remake of En kärlekshistoria. She would have been fantastic as a teenager in love.

The director's title of choice is terrible, it is so generic and it could easily be a psycho killer horror film! (Oh wait, it WAS -- in 1980. And the title has been used for other types of movies since. In English that is; I don't know about French.) I have to agree with the producer on this one because at least the final chosen French title is unusual. (And also the German one.) I happened across that ice cream scene while I was scrolling through the film. I look forward to actually finally watching the whole movie once I forget what I had to see while checking out audio and subtitles. I have been going through the various versions I have downloaded and plan on a French language release within a day, I hope. The French audio is flawed but not nearly as awful as I first thought. The quality varies. Some scenes are tinny | muffled | hissy | noisy. Other scenes are fine.

"La Boum" is an all-time classic, but that does not mean there are not other films also worthy! It would be a CRIME for the French to ignore THIS film! I can tell that it is definitely better than some other teen sex comedies of the era. Deadman found mention of the limited German BluRay which seems to only have German audio. All they need to do is take that video source and add in a cleaned-up French audio track. That, and the usual rights negotiations by movie industry lawyers. It may be that no one actually owns the rights to the French version anymore, or whoever happens to own it no longer has anything to do with movies.

I do not know and I stopped looking for some sort of explanation posted online. I would guess PERMANENT, and that it will only get WORSE with PostImages. (Because I am a pessimist.) But we can manage things here at FLM. (Because I am a realist.) If you have not already, see this thread about other ways to post images here at FLM:

Once a file hoster decides they're going to be the morality police, it's almost always permanent. Probably the best way to avoid this problem is to stick with sites that require you to specify whether images are adult content when you upload them. That tells you they intend to accept adult content. Labeling is the alternative to censorship, some sites will display a NSFW warning of some sort when the images are posted there. Nothing guarantees the image host won't be bought out by new owners who go on an anti-obscenity purge. But it's far less likely.

I have not seen anything that indicates WHY PostImage deleted posts. We can come up with our own paranoid conspiracy explanations but that does not make them true. MAYBE it was specifically FLM that was targeted. Maybe not. Most of the images here are completely uncontroversial. I do not visit other bboards so I do not know what ones do or not use PostImage and if they have also suffered losses.

That said, I otherwise agree with deadman.

I think it's the first time I've seen a case like this: one Blu ray edited with one dubbed version without the original version. This is an aberration. What a waste for a stand with so much space available... It's like a Ferrari with a small engine  .

The DVD provides some perfectly good audio. I would be happy to mux that in, if I could get myself a copy of the bluray. Such an annoyance that they'd only print 500 copies. At least the more standard 3000 allows for purchases for quite some time, two or three years later they're still available. With only a few hundred you either know it's out shortly after release or you're out of luck. It's not even listed on blu-ray.com.
