[REL] Le Songe (2006) Short [Belgium]
Re: [REL] Le Songe (2006) Short [Belgium]
Thank you for the reshares.
This is also available streaming, without the TV logo and without hardcoded French subtitles for the dialog portions in English.
480p here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gjENFmnxMA
WARNING! AUDIO OUT OF SYNC FOR BELOW!
576p here: https://vimeo.com/367364598
This one requires an Audio track synchronization of -4300ms.
WARNING! VIMEO AUDIO IS OUT OF SYNC!
More boring tech:
The Vimeo link also includes an "ORIGINAL_DOWNLOAD" file visible in Jdownloader that contains the original full size PAL mpeg video and PCM audio. This would probably be the version to use by upscalers. The audio would still need to be resynced by -4300ms. I am not an upscaler myself, so this is just noted for others.

I found a little oddity a little while ago for this on emule:
Like this post to see ed2k links [13.0 KiB]
Don't get too excited. Although in English, the subs are a bit stilted. It's almost as if they came from the French youtube autosubs, and then were google translated to English. So, they are not great. However, they do seem to assist a bit in giving you more of the jist of what's being said.
Attached also, if anyone is interested.

English subtitles - that are accurate!
I used AI - then fixed the timing in the excellent Aegisub (fan subtitling software that allows audio matching to the wave form).
There's 2 sentences the AI didn't understand - but the other 200 make perfect sense. A big improvement on the above version that missed a lot imho.
Note - These are timed to the AVI version.

I used freesubtitles.ai - and when it missed 5 lines twice I reverted to the phone technique and the Microsoft translator app. Then Aeigisub to fix the timings. Did you watch it? I wasn't sure if to include the subtitles when the bi-lingual boy spoke English - but I left most in I think as he spoke with a bit of an accent - and thought it'd be useful to others if anyone wants to convert it to German or another language.pillowbaker wrote: Mon Apr 17, 2023 5:00 am Ooh ooh thank you thank you! I hace not yet watched it, but I will very soon, and I will report back to you. I think you made the appropriate choice, leaving the subtitles in, even for the little English dialogue. Your points for doing so are reasonable.David32441 wrote: Mon Apr 17, 2023 8:38 pm I used freesubtitles.ai - and when it missed 5 lines twice I reverted to the phone technique and the Microsoft translator app. Then Aeigisub to fix the timings. Do you find Aegisub to have more/different options or capability than SubtitleEdit?

The big advantage of Aegisub is being able to see the audio. So you can make <0.1 second accurate subtitles for exactly when the sound starts - and make the dialogue last past the end, and before the next person starts speaking. On other software it's just guesswork. Have a look at the screenshots I made for inseperables to see what I mean.pillowbaker wrote: Tue Apr 18, 2023 3:00 amI hace not yet watched it, but I will very soon, and I will report back to you. Re: [REL] Le Songe (2006) Short [Belgium]
SubtitleEdit also has a waveform option, and it is much easier than using my ears. I have not used Aegisub so I can not compare them otherwise.
... it was not until October 2022 that DreamScape clued me in to that waveform. I had probably disabled it when I first started using SubtitleEdit some years ago!

Has anyone had a chance to watch it with my subtitles? Any thoughts on the film. It does seem very French/European.
