Haha! - I didn't know that had a waveform too. Wonder how they compare?Night457 wrote: Tue Apr 18, 2023 4:51 pm SubtitleEdit also has a waveform option, and it is much easier than using my ears. I have not used Aegisub so I can not compare them otherwise.
... it was not until October 2022 that DreamScape clued me in to that waveform. I had probably disabled it when I first started using SubtitleEdit some years ago!

Apparently I am at least as resistant to trying Aegisub as you are to exploring SubtitleEdit's options, so I guess we'll never know!

I've tried aegisub a few times on David32441's suggestion, but uninstalled it every time I used it. I just don't like working with it. But that's just a personal taste. I prefer SubtitleEdit or Subtitle Workshop.Apparently I am at least as resistant to trying Aegisub as you are to exploring SubtitleEdit's options, so I guess we'll never know!
Oh, this is a big step backwards.I reverted to the phone technique and the Microsoft translator app

Nothing wrong with personal tastes. Aegisub I have heard of for a long time, so I know it is well established and effective.
Oh, Subtitle Workshop, it has been a long time since I used that. I don't even remember what it does!
The only thing that I have wanted to do with subs that my computer can handle and that SubtitleEdit does NOT do is extract hard-coded subs. I tried that once with the FLM-recommended software and I have not gotten back the enthusiasm for trying it again.

Thank you for those subs, they make it much clearer. It does not surprise me that it seems to basically be about the woman's daydreams, because that fits with the visuals. I can't say I have any great insights, but I no longer feel entirely asea.
