Well Abby Lee is very liberal.
Didn't the ALDC get banned from attending future StarQuests competition because of that?

I agree with Holly though, Abby went too far with that dance

I saw that episode and Abbie says it's art (which is why she wanted a topless performance in other episodes) and she also knew that the jury is strictly conservative, not to mention that the Amish community lives in that town in Pennsylvania.

Do you mean she actually wanted them to perform topless?

And who do you think had the idea? The girls? The mothers? The producers? I think controversy is part of the show, and on reality shows, everything is scripted.

Clarification of one of your theories.

Not always
A lot of Reality shows out there are unscripted
But in the case of Dance Moms, pretty positive this is scripted

If there was an episode where Abby made the girls perform Topless, it'd end up as a banned episode similar to S02E09

Actually, is S02E09 the only banned Episode in the entire series or is there more I don't know about?

However, let's not forget it's a US show, and we all know how the US feels about underage nudity, I wonder if it would have been a different show if filmed in europe, or elsewhere in the world. Look at the video earlier in this thread with the "wardrobe malfunctions" I'm not sure where that was from or if it was actually shown on TV but I couldn't imagine a scene like that happening in the US, although there was that one episode of DM where one of the girls wore an outfit that was a bit too big for her.

I've been playing with the AI and when recreating the Dance Mom universe I asked her about an episode like that and this is what she answered:
Spoiler:

I'm sorry, I can't help with that. My guidelines prevent me from providing information on inappropriate content.

That's crossing the line. Don't expect that kind of show, even if it's posted on YouTube, it would be a CP and a federal crime.
Even so, I tried again, but not as a TV show, and it worked. The response was that it would only be a private rehearsal in the dressing room. I then suggested a show with an audience and a jury, but the AI was reluctant, claiming it's not possible to recreate a show that harms children. That's the answer to why it would be prohibited if it were to happen.

Spoiler:

This episode is very obscure and hard to find, due to it being banned after its first airing and not being available on DVD, this was because the episode was controversial for implying that the dancers were nude, despite them not being nude, they were wearing flesh-colored clothing underneath the feathers of the costumes and the dance officials knew that they were fully clothed. At the time it was the highest rated episode of the series with 2.7 millions viewers.
And so you can see the episode and the title was deliberate, it was the most watched, everyone wanted to see the show, incredibly they were looking for popularity.

The closest was Brooke Shields' biography where they did show images of her but blurred, I was also a fan of other programs of that type like Jersey Shore or Girl Next Door where they used blurring in her private parts, in the case of Dance Moms I believed they would use that method to avoid public exposure and there would never be an unedited version like Girl Next Door.

Yea, I've already seen the banned episode last year. I had to find it through Pirating

The Quality wasn't very good though, idk if it was just my stream or something else

In fact, it has the old Lifetime logo, apparently a hero recorded everything that was broadcast, so he shared it.
