This movie definitely deserves an upgrade.

Truly one of the classics. I'll use the bandwidth for this one. Thanks, ghost.

That movie is not for everyone.
It is very serious and dark.

Could I have a reshare? With my slow bandwidth I only got 700meg before it disappeared. Thanks!

I am still sharing it. It seems that our clients don't like each other much

When I am in your queue, it's allways full. Even if you set a file to release. Also I never saw you downloading from me. Maybe others can help out? I dunno what's wrong.

Hmm, I usually never have more than 40 in my queue and I'm usually on TV Underground. I'm certainly not blocking you and haven't received anything on this file for 6 days. Don't know why eMule does what it does sometimes. I'm sure it will eventually finish - I'm a patient guy.

Thanks anyway!

Some great news for book readers!
The original 1941 novel by Zsigmond Móricz has finally been published in an English translation by Virginia L. Lewis under the title
"Orphalina", available at barnesandnoble, Amazon and other retailers. (A German translation has been available for decades.) Now that I finally was able to read the book, I decided to revisit the movie. Thank you
ghost for your excellent version, much better than my expensive import DVDs, and a huge thank you to
FLL for his work years ago in transcribing the English subtitles.
Although the book may be even more hopelessly cruel than its film adaptation, much remains the same from the book to the movie. There is the expected compression of characters and events, but the movie manages to add some memorable scenes: the MELON HELMET, and the sympathetic couple at the orphanage looking to adopt.
Using Deepl and Google translations of the Polish and Czech subtitles, I have FILLED IN the missing two minutes of dialog, 20 lines in the 9 to 11 minute section. I made only a few minor edits to the rest of the English text, which is excellent.
English subtitles finally complete:
