[REL] Piccole Labbra (1978)
Re: [REL] Piccole Labbra (1978)
I'm also looking for the uncut version. Any help?

Yes, this is definitely one where we need people like deadman and ghost to work their magic and give us something extraordinary.plokij123 wrote:I'm also looking for the uncut version. Any help?

Wish I could oblige. I have a DVD, but it's not uncut (still some blurring and so forth in certain parts) and the image quality is ... meh. You need a certain resolution otherwise edge sharpening, contrast adjustment, and other things you do to improve the picture actually make it worse.emuler wrote:Yes, this is definitely one where we need people like deadman and ghost to work their magic and give us something extraordinary.plokij123 wrote:I'm also looking for the uncut version. Maybe ghost could use his AI software to create an improved version of the DVD. But I suspect the poor quality of the source would create many of the same problems, it would degrade the image instead of enhancing it.

Yes, I could do this, but why?Maybe ghost could use his AI software to create an improved version of the DVD. But I suspect the poor quality of the source would create many of the same problems, it would degrade the image instead of enhancing it.
1. The source quality must be good, to receive acceptable results.
2. There are so many different versions arround. You really can't say, which is cut and which is not.
Re: [REL] Piccole Labbra (1978)
Exactly my point. The quality is bad enough that my own attempt to clean it up only made the picture look even worse. You'd be wasting your time.ghost wrote:1. The source quality must be good, to receive acceptable results.

Then of course, this is one of those movies with a million slightly different cuts. No one seems to know what the totally uncensored version is, assuming such a thing exists outside the studio vault. Just because IMDb claims there's a longer version doesn't mean there is. Sometimes they get stuff wrong.

I was reading over at the Home Theater Forum where a member schan1269 claims to have seen the original 100+ minute version in the theater
https://www.hometheaterforum.com/commun ... st-4118325
He claims that it was ~106 minutes and, in his words, "It was cut for VHS to 86. The US got ahold of it and cut it to 76. In those cuts...major plot points were lost...which turned it from a man returning from war, injured, and trying to re-discover his innocence... T0 a stalker movie."
Upon reading that, I stumbled upon this VHS Database showing a French VHS release by Ciné Loisirs from 1988 under an alternate name "La Gamine" that lists a 100 minute running time. http://www.vhsdb.org/fiche.php?vhs=fbx7jd3f#film
Has anyone seen this version under this name? Is it the longest version ever released on home video?

Assuming that image is genuine, I've never seen it. Remember that this movie dates from 1978. According to the back of the box ten years went by before the VHS version was released. Enough time for the film to circulate internationally, be cut, recut, and censored. I'd love to get a look at the original master - and the deleted material too, I imagine the footage they cut from that would be truly jaw dropping stuff!heiber wrote:Upon reading that, I stumbled upon this VHS Database showing a French VHS release by Ciné Loisirs from 1988 under an alternate name "La Gamine" that lists a 100 minute running time. http://www.vhsdb.org/fiche.php?vhs=fbx7jd3f#film

If only I had the money to be buying rights to old films ... can you say Extended Cut 4K?

The description on the VHS case above is the original story line. I see nothing in it to think it's a stalker movie. Clementi's character doesn't even take advantage of the several situations where he could have gone much farther with the girl.
This film deals with the relationship between a diminished writer by war wounds and a 12 year old child that he meets in the countryside where he took refuge. An innocent but sensual film. A delicate film but heartbreaking. Personalities of different miseries, different ages, make this love story an impossible romantic novel. Cattarinich makes us conceive to see the inconceivable, makes us admit to the unacceptable with the verve and delicacy enveloped in a decor from the thirties, a big dream of unachieved love.

That would be amazing! I can't imagine anyone doing anything like that these days.deadman wrote: I'd love to get a look at the original master - and the deleted material too, I imagine the footage they cut from that would be truly jaw dropping stuff!![]()

Oh, I agree that even the shortest version doesn't come across as a "stalker" movie. That member tends to be a bit abrasive, so I'd just chalk it up his manner. Thank you for the translation.Phuzzy4242 wrote: The description on the VHS case above is the original story line. I see nothing in it to think it's a stalker movie. Even the other version listed there claims a running time of 90 min. I'm not sure how reliable that site is.
