A commercial VHS is still an improvement from an over-the-air recorded VHS. Are the pictures of something you HAVE? If so, do you have the equipment and know-how to record it?
I confess that while I had decades of use from videotapes, I never digitized them. In later years when I had tapes that never got commercial upgrades, I kept looking online until I found someone else's rip!
If I remember correctly, they came up with an improved technique for digitizing VHS that gives results closer to DVD than traditional VHS rip (although still short of disc quality). Don't remember the specifics though. I have no tapes left, and no working VCR, so I paid only minimal attention.
Any controversy surrounding this movie I don't really understand. It's neither explicit nor an exploitation flick. I find it to be quite innocent, for the most part, but that's just me - a little bit of sexual content is an inherent part of coming of age stories because ... that's the reality of being a teenager. It's always possible we could see a DVD or blu-ray of this film. Never say never. I wouldn't have expected movies like
l'immoralita or
Laura to get bluray releases. But an amzn 1080p web-dl file is more likely, and could show up at some point. Fingers crossed!
