Looking over Mieko's filmography, I have seen her in a few more movies than I realized -- but not this one yet. I remember her best as the truly awesome villainess Lady Kaede in Akira Kurosawa's "Ran"* -- the film that converted me to loving Japanese cinema. (*NOT an FLM movie.)

Just like famed director John Ford later cast Shirley Mills of "Child Bride" fame in his own "The Grapes of Wrath", now I know perhaps how Mieko Harada first caught the attention of Kurosawa. Dirty old men the both of them.

I found a better video, HD 720p! With optional English subtitles. There is a small pale watermark in the black letterbox bars below the video.
