The voices of the citizens of Palmi tell us about their unconditional love for this event, but also all the contradictions that it brings with it. Three eleven-year-old girls, Nicole, Giada and Mariateresa, dream of riding on the cart, but the chosen one must have long, straight, black hair, dark skin but not too much, and be brave. Making her directorial debut, Andree Lucini (also a screenwriter with Désirée Manetti) tells of an ancient world that survives in the present through the eyes of little girls who are approaching adolescence, addressing universal and current themes: the relationship with one's appearance, the need to appear, the fear of not being enough.
