So much things where happen in the last months for me, so I was not so much present here. Anyway, it's slowly the same procedure as every year, it's Berlinale Time.
Sadly I will not get so much time this year for the Berlinale, but I hope I will see some great movies.

Since a few days the complete programm of the Generation section (child and youth movies) is out, so you can take a eye on it:

Unfortunately, there is also a rather small selection of films this year. In the kplus and 14plus sections, there are only 9 feature-length films and 10 short films each, which means we have the same number as last year.
For comparison: in 2020 there were a total of 59 short and feature-length films in kplus and 14 plus. This was the last Berlinale before Corona. In 2021, there was a Berlinale in the summer, where there were only 15 screenings in the Generation (the Berlinale was generally very reduced here). In 2022 things picked up again and there were 51 feature-length and short films and in 2023 there were 57 films.

It‘s a German movie from the Competition called „Was Marielle weiß“ (What Marielle knows). I will see it on Thursday.

I did not remember that Maisie from "What Maise knews" has telepatic skills

In the last days I watched 9 movies and until Saturday I must make a break because of work. My last Screenings would be the Award ceremony for the crystal Bear in the Generation on Saturday and my last Screening is on Sunday with a documentation.

Anyway...
My most favorite movie at this point I saw yesterday with "Paternal Leave". Normaly I did not like so much the 14plus movies but this one was really nice.


A natureza das coisas invisíveis
Very complex storylines where you have to pay attention to a few details here and there. Individual parts come together at the end to form a complete work. However, there is also plenty of scope for your own interpretations.

Zhi wu xue jia
Catch a pillow, you will sleep very well when you watching that movie. But maybe it's also due to a lack of cultural experience on my part to fully understand this movie. I would rather see it as a documentary. In any case, it didn't captivate me or really grab me.

Umibe e iku Michi
Visually, this movie certainly has something to offer. In terms of content, it is at least as complicated as sorting a alphabet soup.
The movie is based on a manga and the storylines have been deliberately mixed up and in some cases not even completed. Me and my companion left the movie with a few question marks. Here and there there is the odd nice situation comedy.

El mensaje
You see a child traveling with his grandmother and grandfather in an old camper van. The child is able to talk to animals who sell their suffering or worries to the child (without words). The grandmother then explains everything to the owners of the animal and the grandfather collects the money, then they move on. Sometimes they stop by the road and either the grandfather or the grandmother stands at the side of the road. Once there is a brief encounter with the girl's mother in a clinic or assisted living facility. That's all that happens in this movie.

El Diablo Fuma
5 siblings who are watched over by their grandmother, who herself believes in the devil and basically does everything she can to prevent him from entering the house. Windows are taped up, doors are barricaded and lots of flypaper is stuck to the ceiling in the room.
The children are not allowed outside, but here and there they find their way to freedom.
In the end, the youth welfare office becomes aware of the family through a police operation. However, the apartment is temporarily restored to perfect condition and the children prepare what they believe to be a solid story about where their parents have remained, because the children do not want to be separated under any circumstances.
