For anyone that doesn’t already know, although I am sure most of you do :)

Rather than trolling through CVMC for new titles all the time, just click here for new title updates http://www.cvmc.net/new.jsp

Certainly saved me some time.

Yup

The new owner updates the film collection much more frequently.

the previous owner refused to ship outisde of the USA (apparently some guy killed himself because the arrival of a film in UK caused him legal trouble). I hear the new owner does ship internationally. And is the new owner still shipping non-digital VHS COPIES instead of originals? Digitally identical DVDs should solve that problem.

Has anyone here had experience renting from the new owner?

My only criticisms of the old biz was that he refused to carry anything that pushed any buttons of 'the man' (i.e. naturist videos, child modelling, Asia File documentaries, etc - all legal in the USA, yet very controversial).

In a way I understand it because I challenged a western power for artistic freedom and it cost me headaches, lawyer fees and lies in the papers. Bascially my business was destroyed and it became a political debate in certain halls of government - but it felt good to give the finger to the status quo. But I admit it's hard to run a business based on confrontation with puritanical government and society. My attitude has always been 'FU' if I'm not breaking the law. But they have the guns and popular support. I know of at least one website operator who has had his laptop seized by an Anglo country and never retruned despite no charges laid. So I see this as a political struggle. This isn't just about movies. It is a war. The question is how far we will go before we resist. How far will you be pushed before you push back?

As far as I know there is no nation on the planet right now that has truly free attitudes and laws. I'd be happy to see a reversal to 1970s mentality when it comes to art, nudity and sex.But there isn't a lot of room for old hippies anymore and I don't see a revolution looming on the horizon needing more volunteers at the barricades.

hmm, if you don't fight the system they will not push you, besides sad to say but no-one can truely beat the system.
