A woman who raised herself in the marshes of the Deep South becomes a suspect in the murder of a man with whom she was once involved.

"Where the Crawdads Sing" is a coming-of-age story of a young girl raised by the marshlands of the south in the 1950s. When the town hotshot is found dead, and inexplicably linked to Kya, the Marsh Girl is the prime suspect in his murder case.

I've watched this movie. The scenes of her childhood are only in the first about 20 minutes of the film. Then she's an adult.

Question: How big of a role does the female child have in this movie? small, big etc

I could be obviously wrong but I heard she's the child version of the adult female character (daisy edgar jones) in this movie?
which concerns me that she might not appear very much in this movie

I'm really only interested in watching if the child has a decent enough of screentime
