PITA file

Downloaded "Ma Mere" and basically it tried to hash it then just goes to a state of completing. I then tried stop emule, and rename the known and known2.met. This of course causes the program to rehash the file but.. same problem. Files before and since have hashed completely no problem so doesn't look problem with drive. Checked emule forum, and they suggest rename the .part to .avi and it will work fine - and sure the file plays fine in MPC, BUT - and here comes the big but...

When I try to move this file to another drive, the file starts to copy then stops, and fails with an io device error. In the event log is logged event 11. I think this is something to do with the file not having completely hashed and still having some link to emule - but even if you stop emule, the file cannot be copied. Can't do this in safe mode (at least don't think I can - will try this) as the usb drives I don't think are seen.

Any suggestions - anyone had something smilar ?

You may have a stuck codec problem. Wnidows shows you file details when you select a file in Explorer. However, a stuck codec will cause this file to be marked as in use. A preview of the file in eMule will also have the same result.

Try this:
Close your emule client, reboot your computer, start your emule client. Now the file in question should be showing in your downloads as erroneous. Right Click and initialize. It will hash.

Remember to do all this without even looking at the file in Explorer or doing a preview.

You can also use the great proggie Unlocker from http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/. There should be entries for emule locking the file - that is normal. Select any other entries and unlock them, then try to initialize.
