Help - File stays in "completing" status ??

Every now and then this happens, the latest is Knetter (Grr). The file says "completing (hashing)" then goes to "completing" and that is as far as it goes. I can download normally and nothing affected EXCEPT :-

1. I can play the file from its current location - no problem there.

2. If I try to move it, it starts to move, then stops and fails with IO Device error.

3. If I rename the .part to .avi, I still cannot move it.

4. When happened before, no choice but to delete it and re-download.

My question therefore is, has anyone else had this and if so what was the solution (if any) ? I will leave it where it is for now and see if I get any answers.

I CAN make a copy on its own drive (a USB drive) but when I come to move it to another drive - no way. I am suspecting it is corrupt and/or sitting on a bad sector.

Thanks for all who help.

hmm, yes maybe your drive is corrupt, have you tried to defragment it? :think

Correct - download does not complete - ever...

Recently chkdsk - found a couple of bads, then defraged - no problems, Suspecting there is a problem with disk because it crashes with "Delayed write failed" every so often, and at that point have to delete file it was writing to and start that one over. Suspect it SHOULD mark sector as bad, but doesn't do that so still allows writes - then is the problem.

Try monitoring the temperature and health of your drive.
