1st of all I want to mention that I read the posts regarding the low activity here or in the emule help .... Yet, I dont have any avtivity in downloading and a very minor activity in uploading ..
some facts about my connection :
windows XP
No windows XP firwall are used
Mcaafe securty center is used insted with Grant access for emule.exe
Im using Sat. connection for downloading and DSL for uploading
proxy is not used in emule ==>direct internet (although it's used in MS Internet explorer) ....
I tried everything to get it to download but yet its not downloading
I even enabled the XP firewall with exceptions for the ports 4662,4672 but yet no activity :(

Can someone please help me ?? :(

Two things stopping you probably :-
1. Port forwarding on router.

2. Turn off McAfee.

The first of these was fully covered in the exchanges with Household, the second needs no explanation.

If you read the other threads you will see lots of troubleshooting ideas.

Key question: High ID or Low ID? Is KAD firewalled? The other recent thread talks about how to diagnose this. You say nothing about a router, is there one? I assume no, if no router that changes troubleshooting steps. If you have a Low ID it's not at all unusual to sit there for a long time (hours) waiting to get a download slot. The other thread talks about why.

It could be that your satellite internet service is a problem, too. (If anyone here has satellite download and dsl return and has set it up for eMule, please chime in.) My guess is that there are some special drivers in your network setup to split and recombine the traffic (DSL up, Satellite down), or else it's done in an external special-purpose router. Internet Explorer is probably proxied to make this sort of thing work better, but eMule will have no such help and might need special setup. Latency will suffer and could affect eMule.

It could also be that since satellite bandwidth is precious your provider throttles eMule traffic. If you think this is a possibility then change the ports to nonstandard ports (making the same changes in firewalls etc) and use eMule 0.47c to turn on "obfuscated connections", this will probably temporarily defeat ISP filtering at least for a while.

try "not to use" the 4662 for tcp and 4672 for udp. Use 4665 or others for tcp and 4675 or others for udp. second, go to your mcafee antivirus and add the tcp and udp you have selected alow them both incoming and outgoing. It had take me for very long time too, to figure it out. Patience is a virtue!!! Also as you have opened the emule and choose your connection of server. go to KAD and click bootstrap.

In your mcafee firewall you might find the port that you can add........

If you turn off the firewall and reboot machine (unloads realtime filter drivers), and then can get it to work, you need to play with McAfee to add the necessary ports and/or application. ALWAYS good advice not to use default ports 4662/72 as that alone can be a source of lowid. Check the emule log when you load emule - that can give pointers.

Basically, you have to firstly make sure the traffic is getting past whatever routing device you are utilising, then switch off firewall/reboot, if that works either play around with ports on firewall, or fo as I have done, allow allow (both directions), all emule traffic TCP all ports (I have UDP disabled as don't use KAD).

Good luck

Thank you for all of the help guys, Sadly still Im getting very low ID with all of the changes that I did upon your help.
some facts:
Im not behind a router, it's direct internet recieving it from the Sat. dish and uploading through DSL modem.
I turned of the win XP firewall and gave grant access for emule.exe through Mcaafe.
I changed the TCP to 4665 and UDP to 4675.
I Called my ISP and he explained that they have nothing to stop/slow down emule. although he couldnt give me any help in the settings he just mentioned that I have to use the usual settings nothing special.
Yet ..... Im having low ID ... actually today I had NO download what so ever ... :(

If you are uploading through DSL and downloading via satellite, it seems logical that you have LowID. Unless you are prepared to move to a different internet connection, I suppose you will have to live with it.

The downside of LowID:
1. No one can find you; you have to go looking for them.
2. As a result of 1. finding sources takes time. This means that going offline is going to hurt; you'll find yourself waiting longer after you restart before you get good sources again.
3. Servers have lmited slots for LowID clients. These get filled up very quickly so you'll find it difficult to connect to the good servers.
4. You can't connect to other LowID clients, so a sizable source bank is unavailable to you.
5. Servers seem to blacklist you a lot quicker; even a few global searches will get you blacklisted, which means no more searches and sources for 1 hour.

However, it is not impossible to live with LowID. I did it myself for over a year; might have to do it again if I switch to a different ISP for price/bandwidth considerations. Just try to stay connected for long durations, and have a mix of fast moving and slow files in your downloads - that way you are always getting data from somewhere or the other and the waiting for slow files won't hurt as much.

Regarding searches, rely more on release sites for your links. FLM is one of them but we are more of a rare film site, so the files mentioned here have few sources, mostly. http://www.drunkendonkey.net is quite decent; check it out.

thank you man for your great help ... after all I think I have to live with it :(
