boo to image protection

Hi all
Does anyone know a way to overcome protected images on such sites as flickr?
Flickr has a silly download deterrent: When you try to save
some images, the image you wanted becomes named "spaceball".
I assume an invisible picture called "spaceball" is protecting the actual picture we want.
Iv read about solutions for this problem if you have something called firefox, but none for me = IE XP.
Im pretty sure more than a few people here can understand my frustrations
Thanks

try picking the real image link from the source (view-source).
BTW I NEVER use IE unless I abslutely have to - FF is so much better IMO.

With Firefox it's easy enough just to block the spaceball.gif image.
For IE you could just save whole pages and then copy/move the images you want afterwards.

Thanks for your replies guys.

Ok iv saved the page, so now I have the link on my desktop.
I click on the saved page on my desktop and try to copy the picture as usual, but still it says spaceball.
Im not sure how saving the page helps.
I tried the source thing, but that didnt work.

When you save the page, there is a file (usually .htm) and a folder with the same name+files. Eg. if the page saved is FirrstLoveMovies.htm the folder will be called FirstLoveMovies.htm files. The images you want will be in this folder.
You can also try other things. Select the image with your mouse, then use the commands in the edit menu.
Worst case scenario: use printscreen to capture a screenshot of the page, paste into any graphics app, then edit out the unneeded portions.

Another way to get it, is to do a "view source" on the page and find the ".jpg" (usually it's the third one that start with "static" or "farm" in the adress).
You can then take the adress (like: farm1.static.flickr.com/111/316127203_f5f1e174f1.jpg?v=0)
and modify it a bit to get the full size original image..
like this:
farm1.static.flickr.com/111/316127203_f5f1e174f1_o_d.jpg
(note that I added "_o_d" at the end)
Et voila! You can now put this in your browser!

If your on a Windows box "Print Screen" is your friend. I use it a lot on IMDb. Just "Print Screen" then open photoshop and use "ctrl+n" (create new file) "ctrl+v" (pastes the image). Quick crop and save and I am done.
