KAD

I have been using KAD for a little while now.

I’m still not really sure how its different to the usual way of running eMule, but I understand from a few people that its safer (if its not safer then why am I using it?).

Anyway, that’s not really my point.
The point is, I see this:
Kad Network
Status: Firewalled
Is that as it should be?

On WinMX the firewalled message is not good, in that you cannot upload or download to a specific user.
I on the other hand am uploading and downloading fine with eMule with the firewalled message, as are my searches as good as ever (miles better than with the servers).

No, it's not good, as you suspect. It will hurt your performance. Sometimes it's a transitory false indication; on the Kad pane click "Recheck Firewall" to check it. If it's still bad, make sure your firewall is set up to pass UDP connections through the port listed next to UDP on the Options/Connection popup, that's what Kad uses.

This morning it isnt firewalled.
