Worth a try

Subscription newsservers are OK........I use one & am reasonably satisfied. However, retention rarely goes beyond 2 months & will sometimes be less.
It's worth looking at your ISP. If they provide you with a mail account it's likely you have a news account also. They won't always tell you about it but it's worth checking their websites for a server address. As a guess you can always try news. (followed by your ISP) .com. This is how I found mine & although slower than a subscription newsserver costs nothing extra & has retention back to early April.
Of course you'll need a decent newsreader........don't even think about using Outhouse Express! Lots of good free ones available........personally I use Xnews which makes the decoding process virtually automatic.
Just found this link that lists newsserver addresses for ISP's
