MorphXT friendslot tutorial

Can someone please explain how to set up and use the friendslot? Either I limit it to 3KB/s, or I get hit with the zZratio 1/3 Ratio reached throttle.

My cumulative UL:DL ratio is 1.64:1, but this is ignored. Only the current session ratio is used.

I'm not alone in this mess. ptguardian has given me a friendslot for Bastard out of Carolina (thanks ) at a whopping 3KB/s. In six days I've managed to download less than 1GB. It could take almost 3 more days if things stay as they are. I don't mind - I'm a patient guy - but I don't think this was what ptguardian intended.

Short time ago i moved on to the fireball mod after a tip from Ghost. It is excellent for release purposes and got a great community share function. I.e. with that activated more or less only people with FLM or NEF in their emule-nicks get to my upload queue. This mod allows me to complete sharing of new releases in half the time of what i was used to. And if you get access to the releaser-version of 0.43b Fireball mod, then you're in heaven, in terms of being a releaser...

Apart from that handling and display of shared files and folders are great, with lots of possibilities to adjust release priority, powershare, active spreading mode and so on.

With Fireball you can also give multiple Friendslots at the same time. Just now i have 3 FS's given out and each of them get roughly 20 kb/s each, totalling 80 % of my upload.

I am a major fan of MorphXT and friendslots, but I have a very good upload speed so that could be masking issues. I have had no problems releasing with it. http://wiki.emule-web.de/index.php/ZZratio

Under Mod Options --> Morph --> Upload Management --> Friends there are a few settings. I have Global datarate=0 (unlimited), Max global datarate limit %=75, max client datarate=0 (unlimited). I think setting the friends max% a little lower might help you reach the 1:3 ratio (since friends uploads aren't counted).

The way I prefer to run eMule is admittedly not for everyone. I personally don't like community-based stuff where the user needs to add [FLM]. (Of course, that's probably why most here have downloaded 10x more from me than I from them, but who really cares?) I prefer to occasionally check who's downloading multiple FLM releases (and thus is most likely a FLMer) and give them a friendslot, even if they are running with the default name and nothing else. The "FunnyNick" feature means I can tell them apart, anyway. (And of course everyone with a recognizable name gets a friendslot too).

The one negative with friendslots in MorphXT is that they sometimes get dropped with IP changes or LowIDs, to prevent imposters. But this actually helps satisfy the zzratio since those uploads count towards the ratio.

Edit: Should probably mention ptG doesn't appear to use MorphXT so that likely isn't your problem with him.

Things got really bad for me.
I was downloading a file from popdrome, and two guys were downloading from me.
I gave one guy a friendslot, but that data uploaded does not count towards the UL:DL ratio.
So my download speed got throttled.
As a result, I had no new parts to share, so no one was downloading from me.
Now my download speed was being throttled because my average upload speed was too low.
Talk about a Catch 22 situation.

All this is sounding a lot like the torrent sites that make you upload files that are of no interest to you just to keep your ratios healthy.

If I'm uploading something rare, I'd rather upload to you, knowing that you will in turn upload to everyone else using your massive upload capability. I thought a friendslot would allow me to do that better, but apparently things don't work that way.

Currently there is a problem between my eMule Plus client and popdrome's aMule. I guess I'll wait until that gets fixed before downloading his files. Unless some of the big guns like FLL, idler and ghost are downloading the same files, getting popdrome's files indirectly is not going to be easy.

Meanwhile I'll use the MorphXT as a utility for converting broken direct downloads to emule part files using the 'import parts to file' feature.

sorry for the lack of upload but i am sharing my friend slot with a few others. switching back and forth.
i have capability to upload much faster but i have been posting to many files at once. and rich just added to that by about 15. in the near future i will space out my uploads. i have several i am holding back currently. sorry redcat they are all mp4.
i have noticed a few that use 2 separate programs at once. i might try that for my uploads.right now i am busy with some other forums. thanks for the patience.
