What's the deal with [FunnyNick]?? Does MorphXT assign unrecognised nicks with its own? excellent mod though!

Exactly.........it's then just a matter of guessing/working out who's who! MorphXT keeps the same nick, not only from session to session but also it seems from one pc/user to another. My guess is that if a nick you can see is the same as I see it's the same user!

[FunnyNick] is a great feature. If the mod sees a nick that looks like it could be a "default" nick (as if the user never changed their nickname from what it was when eMule was installed) it replaces it with a two word nonsense phrase. I am pretty sure this phrase is "computed" using the client's ID to pick words from their word list, so that unless you reinstall, as loverboy said everyone will see the same FunnyNick every time.

So you quickly get to recognize users even though they don't enter a recognizable name. The FunnyNick stays the same even through upgrades as long as it's not a fresh install. (When I upgrade I just replace the executable and nothing else, so all my stats and friends etc stay. Unfortunately the latest MorphXT release recommended a fresh install for the small incompatible change of the column order, but I ignored that and fixed it myself in the UI and it's fine.)

The one slight drawback I didn't realize until recently is that in some cases a customized nick which still looks like a website name will get converted to a FunnyNick. For example, kev has customized his nick but still shows up on my screen with the same FunnyNick he has for over a year.

Probably 1/3 of the users I have as "friends" are FunnyNicks, all FLMers (based on their downloads), which is why you might get a friend slot from me even though you haven't entered your name.

so in short it's a way for your emule to recognise fellow emule clients, interesting way of doing it, lol... thanks for the info FLL
