Thought i would try installing emule and simply selecting Japanese, but there is no Japanese language :wall The problem is searching for Japanese character comes up as 'box box box....' (i.e. 日本語 ---> □□□) , pasting the Japanese seens to seach for □□□ but copying the boxes from the emule panel and repasting pastes them as the original japanese text :wall i've tried various versions of emule and nothing seems to work :think

there's a thread at emule-project...

http://forum.emule-project.net/lofivers ... 07073.html

where someone suggest installing (?) a Japanese library to your computer but i can't see how that would work if emule wont accept the characters anyway :think there must be a Japanese version of emule???

The standard eMule deals with Japanese just fine, zzul doesn't add anything as far as I know. It all depends on what system you are running it on, it must be Unicode-capable. My Win2K machine isn't and isn't easily upgraded, whereas XP and onwards can be upgraded by selecting/installing Microsoft options in the OS. For a while I was running the Japanese IME on my XP and and everything was fine with Japanese in eMule. I no longer have the OS set to Japanese as the primary language (way too confusing, since I don't actually speak or read Japanese) but Japanese in eMule still works since the operating system language options were installed.

Can you rename a file using Kanji? i.e. "本語.txt"? If that works I think eMule should, if not then it's the OS holding you back.

no, it simply saves it as 'box box'... guess the OS is the problem :wall

Cmon... what's the worst that could happen? You'd have to throw your computer in a lake? ;)
