Admins task... [UPDATE: Missing posts and topics are back!]

I'm missing a thread. Well, who doesn't, the database of this place is...
Posted under REQ>Australia, in 2004, a certain "tadge" asked for "The Great Bookie Robbery".
jwsmith88 posted the movie on May 9th, 2009, and I made a remark.
You can still see my name under "last post", but the thread is gone.
You can find my or jwsmith88's post, if you look at all posts of our member profile,
but tadge seems to be gone forever (ghost is a merciless cleaner).

Anyway, jwsmith88's post deserves to be placed under REL>Australia.
If it's impossible to place his original post there, here is his link:

Thanks for noticing this. Strangely enough, loverboy just noticed a similar thing for another release and PMed me about it at just before you posted this.

It looks like the poster cleanup caused this, though I haven't looked at it in depth yet. I had expected deleted posters to become "Guest", but it appears instead their posts were deleted and if they posted a new thread that thread was deleted.

But if there were more posts in the topic, the remaining thread is gone from the index list but still accessible via search by Posts (not topics). The remaining thread for this post is at the original topic URL https://www.first-loves.com/forums/v ... highlight= . You can verify this by searching for posts (not topics) containing "tadge".

I never got around to moving this REQ to REL because I had remembered long ago before I was an admin with ability to change things that tadge's posts looked like he had no clue about FLM and were mostly off-topic. I was going to look into this one to check before moving it, since jwsmith88 didn't include any commentary at all on this movie.

Anyway, no need to dredge up similar lost topics, now I am aware of this we will investigate and we *will* do something about it. Just don't know what yet. Might take a while.

Is it possible to reconstruct from an earlier backup of forum?

That is exactly what we have done. The time-consuming part was finding exactly which users/posts/topics needed reconstructing, because simply restoring the old backup would have wiped out everything posted in the last 10 days. It was all done by programming scripts to compare the current FLM with the backup (doing it by hand would have taken 10x longer and would have been error prone) but that still took time to figure it all out and write and debug the scripts and check the results.

Every missing user who had posts as of 6/12 has been restored, even if they were inactive. (That's 139 of them). All of their missing posts have been restored (1976 of them). And finally, all the missing topics they created have been restored (355 of them).

Thank you for your patience :dance
