I agree. I prefer megaupload - it supports resuming. :thumbsup

i can't speak for others. but me personally i frequent several sites such as scene releases that upload first to rapidshare then eventually to torrent. but sometimes those torrents are private tracker only. plus it only sucks if you don't have membership. i have seen several russian sites and a few others posted here that were mainly rapidshare links. because i and a few other regular posters have an account we grab and then post on emule for everyone to enjoy. just another tool for acquiring new material. ;) i don't mind paying a little if i get a lot back in return. (i pay more for a night out than a year worth of membership costs) but if someone wants to use another service it is all good to me... if the movie is wanted i doubt we won't find a way to get it posted on emule. plus a minor bitch about those so called free sites. most have purposefully annoying size limits and wait times. encouraging you to pay for full service anyway :wall

You just pointed out my major gripe against rapidshare. :think It is not fair to compare a premium account on one site with a free account on another.

But I get your point too - we go where the content is. This being an ed2k site, we try to bring whatever we have collected and release on emule. If this were a torrent site we would be doing the same with torrents. There are plenty of rapidshare-only sites that do exactly this on rapidshare. Its just who we are. ;) :cool

lol
i knew i would get that reaction from someone when i wrote it. (that is how i joined) i was hoping that it would prompt someone to mention a free service that can do what a full membership can do. megaupload is the same as rapidshare for the same reason(perhaps better for uploading but still the same in general over all use). i do think it is fare to compare because the free service does not work very well. i have accounts with both. perhaps if a GOOD free service does exist it should be encouraged and directed to as part of the how to contribute if you can absolutely in no other way not share on emule. that way if someone who chimes in about not being able to use emule effectively can be given two simple options. either post using that free service or as usual give a link to the tutorial on how to configure emule correctly. http://first-loves.com/modules.php?name ... forum&f=69

My point is that megaupload (free) supports resuming, while rapidshare (free) does not. Megaupload wins. :clap

Since this is an interesting discussion I moved it from its original thread to a new one in General.

I didn't know free megaupload supported resuming. You have to register, though. But I personally have maybe 1 in 25 fail and need resuming.

Both Rapidshare and Megaupload support free uploading and downloading. As far as I can tell (I admit I haven't checked completely) if you register both will preserve your uploads. The original issue that prompted this discussion (expired 10-download-only rapidshare upload) was a quick and dirty way to get the film to the board, the limitation wasn't considered important at the time. And if you register and et a "collectors account" at rapidshare the limitation goes away. Not completely sure about that, if anyone has experience speak up.

Essentially then to me the biggest difference between rapidshare and megaupload is the way rapidshare limits free downloads with timers. But though at time I want things right away, usually I am willing to wait. And there are many rapidshare-specific download managers out there where you can simply queue the links and it will download them all, overnight if desired.

RS and MU are the only ones I know at all well, most others I have been forced to use (by content I wanted) have been problems. Either "no download slots" for hours at a time or <50KB/sec speeds. Some are also fly-by-night and I have no confidence they will still be there.

I've never seen the need to pay for an account, though. I have no free option to get Usenet and I'd rather put my money there.

Having an premium account I'm very happy with Rapidshare. Registering a "collectors account" at Rapidshare does remove the limitation of 10 downloads, your files are stored unlimited as long they are accessed in a time period of 90 days, with up to 20 GB storage.

No.. you didn't get me right..

There are many hosts, where you don't have to create an account or pay money to download without limits.

moidisk.ru
filesurf.ru
teradepot.com
hotshare.net

..just to mention some. There are many more.

And they even workl without javascript if you are concerned about security.

thank you for the links. i will check those sites out.
it would be nice to have a preferred free site that is recommended for those that can't use emule for what ever reason. if you notice i obtain from where ever the file is available but have only posted the emule link that is being shared. i don't care where it comes from. but free is optimal of course. after all we are just sharing good times among friends. i charge nothing and don't expect anyone to pay in return. i only hope someone likes and enjoys what i have given.
