A single channel video that presents a specific minority in Romania: roma. A little girl Elena dances accompanied by other children whose songs and hand clapping provide the rhythmic basis for her movements. The children perform with a certain childlike naivety and innocence, but at the same time the lyrics and Elena's sexually suggestive moves insinuate something that belongs to an adult world. The songs illustrate a culture in transition - an ethnic group trying to find a balance between tradition and the new order of things ushered in by the 1989 revolution.

I recognize the scene. It's pretty much just her [girl in the center] dancing with the other kids hanging out.. At the end the filmmaker talks to the kids then to some other adults in the neighborhood.
