No IMDB.
During her school's summer camp, Juana, a 12-year-old girl, runs away to meet Nico, another boy from school with whom she is in love. During one of the afternoons they spend together, Juana suddenly has her first menstruation. Her body suddenly changes, her reality suddenly changes. Juana must overcome the shame of seeing Nico again and accept what is happening to her.

Thank you, Andrea! BTW Aina López Mollà, known from Papa Oso (2021) viewtopic.php?f=130&t=14630, is really beautiful...

Some add: if you take a look at her Instagram, you could see that she participated in many short movies, and some of them seem to be quite interesting (Noa e Lúa, L'orfenat /see photo below/ etc.)... https://www.instagram.com/ainalopezmolla/ But they are really hard-to-find ATM...

Thank you Andrea for bringing this to us, and thanks for the emule link and additional info, jezevex! Wish I knew where to look for these others shorts. Seems for every rare short film one finds, there are ten hidden shorts scattered somewhere in the world.

Will help emule after downloading!

Hey I also made some subs for this. Just figured I'd experiment some more. I only had time to edit to the 7:40 mark. Maybe later I can touch up the rest. Lemme know how they look up to that point.

After that point, most occurrences you'll see of "aunt" or "auntie" appear to be references to menstruation. [EDIT: this is incorrect, my apologies. thank you Sully for the correction] Seems the euphemism translates nearly directly, though it seemed more of a common term here, so I did not use the English variant in translation. It does seem more awkward and uncommon in English.

EDIT:
Attachment deleted, please see fully corrected subs in my post below. ;)

It actually refers to an idiom from European Spanish (not to be confused with a Latin American accent) in which 'tio' (uncle) or 'tia' (aunt) is equivalent to guy or chick or partner. In fact, I was confused myself because tio was similar to uncle and I thought he was referring to a relative.

An international survey conducted by the health app Clue found that there are more than "5,000 different slang/euphemistic expressions and phrases for periods: from the gentle English 'Aunt Flo,' to the dramatic French 'Les Anglais ont debarqué' – 'the English have landed.'"
https://mashable.com/article/words-for-periods

More English examples from the above article:
1. Visit from Aunt Flo
2. On the Rag
3. Lady Business
4. That Time of the Month
5. The Red Badge of Courage
6. Moon Time
7. Crimson Tide
8. Checking Into the Red Roof Inn
9. Red Wedding
10. Girl Flu
11. Carrie
12. Mother Nature’s Gift
13. The Red Baron
14. Riding the Cotton Pony
15. Shark Week
Compared to the above, "Auntie" seems quite restrained and dignified.

Thanks for the clarification, Sully. I'll be sure to make that correction when I finish up the subs. If you end up watching it, please let me know of any other errors. Despite the clear audio and dialogue, the AI transcriber I used struggled a bit with this one. It identified the language as Catalan, so maybe it doesn't have as much experience with that language. I suspect the AI subtitler is a few words off with some of the lines. And some of the lines I had to guess at, for example No me necesitan bañar at 2:03, in which I used a guess that I once heard on the playground in 5th or 6th grade in a scenario similar to this one.

The line where I made the incorrect assumption about Auntie was primarily from this:

- Tía, no estés mal. A todas nos pasa. [Girl, it's not that bad. It happens to all of us.]

But the initial google, deepl, and the AI subtitler translation gave me something that made me interpret it was something like "Having auntie is not so bad." Sully's information makes a lot more sense.

5,000 eh? Guess I shouldn't be too surprised, if they're including multiple languages. Red badge of courage and Red Baron, those are quite good.

Now that I see your example, I clearly understand Sully's explanation. I can also understand why it got misinterpreted as a euphemism.

Sorry about the delay. I finished the last little bit of work on the subs for Menarca. Let me know how they are, or if you have any corrections.
