AKA The Young Prey, AKA Like a Crow on a June Bug.
A film vaguely erotic about the disenchantment of adolescence. Discovered last year, I didn't know at the time that movie deserved his place here .
Synopsis :
Spoiler:
A beautiful young girl from the country experiences life’s bittersweet realities in this coming-of-age drama set in the rural South. When a highway is built near her home and a traveling carnival comes to town, the teenage Naomi (Simone Griffeth), 16-year-old, falls in love for the first time and is exposed to the seedier side of human nature.
I seriously suspect this is Off-Topic for FLM. Yes older actors can play younger characters if they do it believably. But here, the 16-year-old character was an actresss 22 years old at movie release and I think she was probably not fooling anyone. It looks like just another now-tame sexploitation film, where the supposed age of her character was just a young age chosen to push buttons and garner interest. My opinion is not strong and not definite because I only have a small amount of available information at this time. (I seem to remember tezfiles take a long time to download.) Those who find more information or watch the video are free to discuss. I am not ready to put it in Verified Off-Topic immediately just on impulse!
I have seen plenty of movies of this type and I was half expecting that some small BluRay label might have resurrected it. All I found were old SD AVIs like you found.

However, I had noted that the age of the role was a more important criterion than the age of the performer .
There are other films concerned by this off-topic then.

No, the other way around because children seldom play adult roles. What is most important here at FLM is actual children playing the roles of children because then there is no question. Anything else is an exception that may be acceptable. There are limits to how old and how believable an actor can be playing a child!
Consider this:
Leslie Howard and Norma Shearer played the star-crossed lovers in the 1936 film Romeo and Juliet. The casting may not have been super age-appropriate—Shearer was 34 and Howard was 43! Romeo and Juliet are supposed to be teenagers…
That is just a ridiculous example and the 1936 R&J does NOT BELONG at FLM, not even the tiniest bit. We have guidelines and common sense must prevail. Any fool can say "I am only three and a half years old" but no one is obligated to believe them.
ANYWAY: THIS movie is the issue here. I downloaded from the wipfilms.net link because it was much faster. The tezfiles still have 3 hours to go. (EDIT: did finish in time.) It appears to be the same file, a 1.09Gb AVI. It looks like a decent VHSrip with a little videotape tracking slip at the bottom edge. Having scrolled through I am satisfied that the movie seems to be ON TOPIC ... but just barely. The girl does not look really old, so I can pretend she is 16. There is also a younger brother character and THAT actor was about 14 in real life.
It is also not nearly as exploitative as I had feared. (Darnit. )

Thank you DaveTheBoss, I think this looks appealing. The movie title "Like a Crow on a June Bug" would have been a better choice to sell it for a general audience. Naming it after the girl's young age is maybe a little suggestive. It is also not a very original title. If there was a sequel the next year would it be called "Seventeen"?
With all due respect Night457, I think this is more "hicksploitation" rather than "sexploitation". I see a rather chaste and sweet nude scene. This is from the 1970s when every movie had nude scenes!
Of course you know best about "Off-Topic" here and I would not dare to argue with you about that.

OK, OK, I admitted I was wrong. Maybe I jumped to conclusions. Yes, the 1970s were the best for movies!
I suppose I could watch this one but I am still suspicious of the goat and the pony. I guess I just have a dirty mind.
