During summer of 1994, Sam, a free spirited 10-year-old girl, tags along with her older brother and his friends where she enjoys playing as one of the boys until she experiences the societal limitations reserved for adolescent girls and the fleeting innocence of childhood.

Thanks for this one, art! This girl looks cool. I always liked movies with boyish girls in them!

Haven't watched it all yet, but so far it seems pretty good.

"Are you a boy"

"No"

idk why but I found this line quite cute

Anyway, I highly recommend this especially if you're a fan of Coming of Age type films

I watched this short film for the first time yesterday and I've already watched this twice

Also, did you notice Sam's hesitation? Was she contemplating saying 'yes', or was she musing that of the four shirtless kids, the other little girl specifically asked HER that question.. :think

I thought she could easily pass for a 'pretty' boy with her hair cut short.

Nice slice-of-life, coming of age short in the same vein of No Bikini and another short that was posted a year or so ago about little girls going topless. THIS movie, though, uses camera angles to protect the actress's modesty..

Thanks art195 for bringing this lttle gem to FLM.

Yeah, you only see her fully in that brief shot where she jumps. I wondered myself why the little girl came up and asked her that question - what was the writer trying to convey with that scene? At Sam's age a girl usually can pass for a boy as long as they don't strip completely and have a boyish hairstyle.

We've had several other shorts that I can remember along similar lines. Besides No Bikini we have À Mort Le bikini! (2023) and Der Badeanzug (2025). And don't forget the feature film Tomboy (2011).

Thanks deadman! Yeah 'À Mort Le bikini! (2023)' was the other short I was thinking of. Totally MISSED 'Der Badeanzug (2025)', so; many, MANY thanks for directing me to that short! :heart

Mmmmm... :heart Yes 'Tomboy (2011)' is an absolute classic full-lengther dealing with that subject. :thumbsup

I just remembered a scene from a movie. A tomboy and other kids are shirtless, and she's topless. She thinks she's just like a boy. Then they go swimming in the lake, and when the girl takes off her shorts, they notice she's different and even make fun of her (I suppose she, like the boys, thought they all had the same 'thing' and no one was different). Actually, it's very difficult to identify the movie. It's European, from the 80s or 90s. The girl is white and red-haired (Irish? maybe). She had a style similar to Ronja Rövardotter (maybe). I only remember that some time ago, before Sensitive Content, Children in Cinema explained sensitive scenes, and some clips with OT were scattered on the internet. One of them was from that scene.
